Would you survive SN if it moves through your system too slowly?

I don't think so. And besides that, I'm distressed over being told that my stomach issues could interfere.
I have gastroparesis in addition to a condition that makes me constantly nauseous and vomit daily. I take Zofran multiple times a day and Meto with heavy meals. SN is my method and I'm not concerned about it being more difficult because of it. I've done a lot of research on SN.

Liquids move through the stomach faster than food, and Meto promotes gastric emptying. Empty stomach plus those facts seems like it would balance out. I could be wrong, but I'm comfortable with that.

Even if it doesn't, if you take the other recommended meds like propranolol and benzos, you shouldn't be conscious for too long. And once unconscious, you won't feel the discomfort if your stomach does slow things down.

Also, it's unlikely your stomach isn't working at all. I think SN would mostly be an issue with a completely paralyzed stomach that couldn't empty at all on its own. But if that were the case, there wouldn't be a question and you would have to be under serious medical care.

The way it is for me, I get attacks. And I can feel when my stomach is being all fucked up. Like, it's normally slow to empty without meds but sometimes it's worse and food seems to sit for ages. I'll eat a little and feel super full the next day. So I would not take SN during those times. But I also have periods where I'm eating easier and not as full. That's when I'd plan on it.

But Meto is a tricky drug, as far as side effects. It's not predictable. Even though you experienced that before doesn't mean it'll definitely happen again. On the flip side, people can take it all the time safely and then suddenly get side effects the next dose. All I can say is I've been having to use it for a few years and so far, it's ok. I do try to save it as a last resort, though. Zofran is my main antiemetic.

You're told to lay down after taking it. Is it not beneficial to move around so it can digest faster?

It's because people get dizzy fast.

I may be being naive here, but could you take Senna or Laxido or something to speed your system up.
Also, Meto empties the stomach quicker so wouldn’t that help?

I know there's not really doctors here, but I'm curious about my chronic lack of appetite. Could that really just be caused by depression?

yes or by some medication you are taking.

Not really taking anything. I wouldn't say I really feel "full" though or have early satiety, just never hungry.
You can try googling "no appetite". I'm sure there could be lots of reasons. Depression has that affect for some.

I research it all the time. There's so many things it could be, all it does is give me anxiety. I just feel like if depression was the cause, it would be something that comes and goes.

Lack of appetite and also dulled sense of taste are actual symptoms of severe depression, as well as anhedonia. It's very common to experience it to some degree.

This method is breaking me. Why can't I just be euthanized? At the least, it'll probably take longer for me to pass out which will make me panic.

Just to add: I've been thinking I was bloated for about 2 years, but maybe it's just "skinny fat" because it doesn't feel weird? I've done an ultrasound and barium swallow, only stomach polyps were detected during the ultrasound. Nothing was detected during the barium swallow, but I think it took until like the third time they called me in for the x-ray for the barium to fully digest. When I firmly tap my stomach, the left side seems to make a deeper/louder sound than the right. The doctor discovered this in the past and just kinda said "maybe it's constipation."

I know no one can really assure me and that information is probably useless, but I don't what else to do.

When that goop hits someone's stomach it only takes a few minutes. It does not need to work it's way through your digestive tract. You will probably vomit it out in about 7 minutes and that's enough. It gets absorbed in the stomach.

So it's not like processing medication or alcohol?

No I get the impression it sits in your stomach for about five minutes and gets vomited out. And that's enough usually. It gets into your blood stream from the stomach. That's just my impression but I'm not sure anything goes down into the small intestine within five minutes for anyone.

I know I can vomit out something I ate up to half an hour later. Meaning it's been in my stomach that long.

If you had gastroparesis or something similar, could it move through your body so slow that you survive it? I don't know what exactly my situation is, but I heard this would be the case and I'm concerned about it.
In my opinion, there is really no way of knowing; it depends on a lot of different factors, including your own unique physiology.

I ask myself that every day. Maybe I could put on a big dog costume and take myself to the vet to be put down.

I will never understand why it is ok to euthanize an animal and yet humans have to go through so much suffering in my country.

Sometimes I wonder if, in addition to my own SI, others project their SI onto both me and also society in general. SI is pretty strong so it would not surprise me.

We think it's ok to kill animals. We think humans are so special they can't be killed.

One thing I do know is that I have excess gas, probably a sign of something. I usually don't have cramps though and when I do they tend to be very mild, but I belch and pass gas embarrassingly often and even tend to have to strain a bit to flatulate. Does anyone think that would be a problem with SN at all?

Hope no one minds me bumping this so much, but I just keep panicking and I guess it's better than making new threads. I think I have chronic constipation too, but I assume that's not an issue. Any opinions on all this would be appreciated.

I'm not a medical professional by any means, but just from reading this thread it sounds like a lot of your GI issues and lack of appetite might be caused by anxiety. Just MHO.

I've had them for a long time and I'm not anxious 24/7, so I'm not sure. In any case, it doesn't really matter what's causing them. I just wanna know if they'll interfere.

Still able to pee, so I can process liquids okay I guess. Don't know if that's encouraging at all. Just feels like I'm immune to everything...

Something I thought of, I believe a barium swallow is x-rayed once it reaches the small intestine. So if that took longer than expected, does that indicate SN will? But I wonder if it's fine as long as it reaches it within about an hour or so?

Also doesn't having stomach polyps indicate a damaged stomach lining? Could that be an issue?
