Would you still be suicidal if you woke up a multi billionaire tomorrow?

Money doesn’t buy happiness but it avoids the unhappiness caused by poverty.

Money isn’t my problem. To me, being a gay man is a living death and would still be if I was wealthy.

In my 35+ I realize that working until my body is old (and ugly) is not what I want. 5 days a week go to work, and the remaining 2 days try to forget about it - it seems to be not a very good plan for life. It's humiliating like being slave or someone like this.

So my answer is - maybe I wouldn't. If I would have money that give me opportunity not going to work maybe my level of happiness would be enough for not thinking about ctb.

For me personally it would mean I would be able postpone CTB a lot longer as the money would allow me the best medical care and enable me to live in excellent health in a place of my choosing without financial worries. It would also enable me to give money away to those in need and support worthy causes, which I think would bring deep satisfaction and happiness and a sense of purpose - all things I've lacked for a while now.

I mean, probably. A million wouldn't get you too much but a billion is an absolutely crazy amount for any single person that isn't tied to a company or whatnot. You can literally get absolutely anything you could possibly want with that kind of money, you could even go above the law for the most part. Flick a few thousand at a cop and you'd get away with murder for all they care. I can't say I'd live a full life though, I have my personal reasons why money just wouldn't help me in the long run

Nothing would change for me. No money in the world would do that. Yes, of course, it would probably solve some material problems, but that is not enough.

When I read through this thread and read how many would not be suicidal anymore with a lot of money, it made me very sad. And all this just because of a worthless piece of paper with an invented value...

Yes . A Thai surgeon ruined my face . I talked with many surgeons in the world to see if there is any chance that they can possiblyfix me and they all told me that my face is not fixable because of the extent of damage . I really liked to be alive . But there is no chance for me to be happy again and I suffer from my exising condition

I wouldn't want to do it anymore.

Money isn't an "issue" right now, but I'm not getting rich by any standard. Maybe having billions would preoccupy my mind with a bunch of luxuries.

Money would fix the material issues I have, but I know for sure that I will still be miserable in the end.

Ending your life because you don't fancy working 5 days a week seems a bit extreme.

I hear ya.

But just in case, if anyone has any of these worthless pieces of paper with an invented value that you don't want, I collect them. For the kids...

Obviously it's not main reason. I think (except maybe terminal illness) main reason don't exist at all. It's always complex.

@liverpoolfan Exactly as you said: Postpone ctb in order to give money to those in need (especially the homeless) Would also be able to help the animals through such organizations as Vegan Outreach which exposes the terrible cruelty that goes on in factory farms. (Why are some animals called pets and others called dinner?)

I don't think I would be. I could at least do fun things and even if no one loved me I could use prostitutes and maybe that's good enough. I also wouldn't feel like as much of a loser cause everyone would want my money so fuck what they think
I could also help people. Work on creating affordable housing (I'm really into micro housing). Donate to political groups.
I don't think I would die. And I say that as someone with a helium tank in his apartment ready to go

I’ve had money, maybe not billions but enough to do a lot of things, truthfully it doesn’t make you happy and can be the root of a lot more problems..

But I’d still rather sit in a Lamborghini crying than a bus stop

Complex? You can say that again. As Basil Fawlty once said: "There's enough material there for a whole psychiatrists' conference."

Well, in the case of rabbits, first they're pets. Then when they're not cute toys for the kiddies, they become dinner.

I could postpone the act of suicide, sure. People who are poor tend to believe that money would solve all their problems forever. Rich people have serious problems and ctb too. It's still the same cesspool of existence, the rich just have fancy toys to play with while they're sticking around. They could also afford stuff needed for any suicide method they wish, like easily obtaining lots of N, etc.

There's so much I could do for people so yes I'd hold off for a bit. But I'd probably still do it later on.

Man, money would solve almost everything for me. Not even a million or billion. Just a decent amount to get a new start.

No, money wouldn't fix me or my problem. I'm doomed. I wish it would.

I feel like choice paralysis would set in at first, but I'd just fall into my regular "I want to die, everything sucks" mentality, and I'd start looking for causes to leave the money towards. I gave up on seeking happiness from materialistic things anyway.

If I had the same psychotic, abusive, hypocritical, holier than thou shitbags in my life the answer is hell yes. Psychological terrorism is not acceptable especially when it comes from people I trusted.

Yes.

Someone once said "money can't buy you happiness, but it's more comfortable to cry in a BMW than on a bicycle". That pretty much sums it up.

No because my problem right now really needs money but its not like money will just drop from the sky

I think i just need financial security, even though i am only 18.... all this shit is happening because i don't have money, then stressing about money so i cannot function properly, then I cannot calmly think of ways to earn money. Its just this hell cycle.

I’d probably try ketamine therapy as a last ditch effort since I can’t afford it now. I’m sure I’d be able to tide myself over for a little while but would probably find myself back at sqaure one in the end. As others have said, I’d probably just set up my family and friends for life and donate the remaining funds to various charitable causes.
