OK not only does this World Suicide Awareness Day sound like a joke but it's probably overshadowed greatly by 9/11 awareness. And of course they have a stupid ribbon for it. I consider myself blessed to have never encountered either of these bs awareness days in my life.
Are you saying 9 11 is a bs day of remembrance? Bcos I knew someone who died that day and I assure you, it is not!

Oh, if only I was ready. It would be so good to go out on that day. Not that it should be a reason to kill yourself, but if you know you’re going to ctb anyway, no harm in making a statement!
I have been so very tempted to bring my date forward to ctb today! (sadly not possible).

I don't understand all these comments about "pro-lifers". What has abortion got to do with this website?

pro lifers, not just abortion, but generally pro lifers are people, who do not believe in suicide in any shape or form,
pro lifers who spout life is perfect and amazing, refusing to see both sides of the world, yet we have to see theirs
Pro lifers, people who think life is and should be worth living regardless of what you have been through, or are going through

Pro lifers who believe places like this forum should not exist, and would if they had their way have it taken down

Pro lifers, not just abortion, but life in general

"Hai everyone! Suicide is TOTALLY bad and stuff. It's soo bad when a stranger who I don't even know commits dead, so let me make a 10 minute-long revenue-giving video about why I love yall 'cos I'm such a nice person... By the way did I mention that I'm nice? I'll give you my thoughts and prayers; that's gonna fix everything! Also don't forget to like, comment, subscribe, follow and most importantly buy my merch!"

Dont worry about laughing i think a bit of humour on these threads is quite therapeutic.
Its our way of dealiing with the absolute bullshit that these things stand for.

Gutted im late to this thread, i love these, the humour and our collective sarcasm
...could some of my friends re post this. I think i know who will.
Ok smart arse if you know who will repost, just send it to them people and leave the rest of us out of it.

That was very good, until it got to "be the one who tries to keep them here"! If they just changed that to "be the one who tries to make their life worth living" or something it would be very good!
And there it is! The pro-life movement is all about keeping people here and not about improving the quality of life or removing barriers to happiness.

Pffft...it's all mental health services do too!
I've been trying to get help for 11 years.
ELEVEN YEARS.
But if I told them I am going to kill myself they'd put me in their 136 suite to "help me". Then I'd be left wandering around aimlessly on a ward with no support regime anyway.
It's all about keeping you alive, not sorting out any issues or barriers to happiness.

"...when an author could have ended their [life] sentence but chose not to."

And my comments were meant to cause laughter. I was blowing off steam with sarcasm.

My God I've had another brilliant idea!
If you want it to end suddenly and quickly, just write to the Clinton family claiming to be an investigative journalist and that you have dirt on them...

I could use some pushaways; would be easier to leave that way.

I'm assuming that by "all these comments" you also meant my comment because I brought up abortion. I mentioned it because in both cases there is a concern about whether or not the subject is alive (the preference for life) but there is no concern about the subject's quality of life.

No, it just reinforces how much I like using semi-colons. Sometimes I've still got shit to say.

It's a well known fact that suicides take place on 10th September and so it is a smart move to name the day "suicide prevention day".
People do not suffer with emotional issues on other days throughout the year which is why mental health services are so rubbish; why build an expensive service that's just not needed on more than one day during the year?

It's ok though, because the virtue signalers won't have anything to say on the issue after the next hour is done with (it's 23:00 here).

I wanna give my two cents about it.
I think (as a normal person and not some psycho girl) that preventing suicide is important, for those who arent really mentally ill and just go through a tough moment in their lives. The ones that have it all, future holds so much for this people, and their crisis is tenporal. But for those who are seriously mentally or physically ill, have lost it all and dont have the kind of support they need be it emotional support or the lack of success with any treatment, this is not an important day. All the contrary, they're encouraging other people to think they have all control over our lives and know whats best for us without even knowing our problem. I think to us its just another day where we can be happy for those who can still be saved, of course, if they want. But I just the world was a bit more supporting of the fact we can take our own life whenever we want or need or when the problem is way more serious than just your anothet mundane crisis. I would like to turn to all these people here who think they still want to save their lives or know things can get better or they have any kind of support they can rely on. If you still have the most little will to survive, dont hesitate. Try therapy and have your hope held high. Who knows. Explore your ways. Maybe, if you'd like to, life wont be as bad as it seems anymore.
