So after a year on the waiting list I found out I’m at the top for STEPPS for bpd. I got a call today firstly telling me it’s not bpd anymore it’s emotional intensity disorder?!! Second that the group therapy called stepps I’ve been waiting a year for us not definite I’m only at the top of the list for the assessment for it? The woman told me she’s sure I’ll pass the assessment as I have a diagnosed personality disorder. But what if I don’t?
Anyone been through this? What’s the assessment? And has anyone done this stepps thing? Stepps stands for ‘Systems Training for Emotional Predictability’ by the way. Does it even help?
I feel like how I am is my personality through and through.. I don’t feel like anything will change that.

I don't have BPD and I don't know anything about STEPPS, but I know this: you suffer from a serious mental health condition (I'm bipolar myself) and you're posting in a suicide forum. What do you have to lose trying it out, really?

i would say go for it, i never heard of STEPPS but an assessment can't harm you, it's there to see if this program is right for you or not, worst comes to worst they say nah and you find something else

I don’t think I can message you on here yet? Maybe you haven’t posted enough. My head isn’t in a good place right now. I feel intense about our connection and just feel like I’m going to get hurt. I feel hurt already. It’s not your fault. I’m sorry

Talking with you has helped as I can't really chat with other people who understand. And I hope that I've been able to help you too.
I don't have message privileges on here yet.

I know you don’t. I can’t even make sense of my own feelings right now. All I know is I can’t help but want to be close with people and I felt I wanted to be close with you. I push for intimacy but I think you shy away from it.. I miss talking to you and you have helped me. But I think I need more than you can give me xx

I have BPD/EUPD (emotional intensity disorder or whatever they feel like calling it is just the british term of BPD)
i was offered stepps. i had an assessment which was just basically talking to two psychologists. Then i had a 'taster' session. i decided not to go ahead though as i hate groups. but Stepps does incorporate alot of DBT in it.

Hope that helps

For someone who's been seeking help for years and years and years, each failed attempt can be potentially devestating.
