If you go on a certain jungle site and search for SN you will see many recent reviews on the listing for L's SN from family members and friends of people who ctb'd using it calling for its removal and ban from the jungle site.

If we're to be smart about this and if you're pro-choice as well then please remove all the labeling from your SN container. Just flush it down the toilet or burn it into ashes using a lighter. We need to make sure SN stays legal and remains accessible for others even after we CTB. Please don't help the anti-choicers and the authorities make it harder for a dignified ending. L's SN is very high quality and to lose such a valuable source would be very unfortunate. Most of society is against us, so we always have to think two steps ahead.

Thank you, and please bump this from time to time so more people on here can see.

That being said, please ensure that your container is at least very clearly marked as 'POISON'.
No amount of source protection is worth the risk of someone else consuming your SN by accident.

The cause of death is easily determined to be by SN due to the color of the blood. Autumnal proper,y addressed the concern regarding damaging others.
I had assumed the OP was meaning more about preventing the specific brand and seller of SN being identified, not hiding the fact that the cause of death itself was SN.

Although obviously even orders, payment and postage of SN can be fairly easily tracked, so it isn't really a sure-fire method of hiding the brand or seller anyway. At most, maybe a slight delaying tactic, or perhaps protection against only the most incompetent and unmotivated investigators.

SN won't be banned because it has far too many uses beyond suicide and there are always alternatives. At worst it'd be restricted to certain types of businesses and we'd still be able to buy it off of auction sites.
I keep saying this, it's not the kind of thing that anyone could justify restricting to commercial use only since it's used to much. You'd be banning the general public from curing meat which is ridiculous.

You can look them up yourself on Amazon. It is pretty much the family members blaming sodium nitrite for suicide when it's obviously the person themselves who chose to commit suicide using this particular method. It's like if they blamed rope, a bridge, bleach, etc, it's just ridiculous is what it is. If someone chose to ram their car into a tree to kill themselves; would you be blaming the car or the tree?

It's already restricted like that in the UK though. I recall a member posted the law.

Here in the UK they are paranoid about everything and restrict everything. It heavily depends on what area you are in tbh. SN is reportable in certain contexts under some law about poisonous substances from years ago.

Okay, but your statement was about restricting it to commercial use:

Members have talked about lying to get SN, and either not being able to back it up, or in the case of one, she lied, her mother got the delivery, made a stink about it, and the seller wouldn't sell to her again. The general public is indeed restricted from buying it. That's why UK members regularly post in search of sources, the usual answer is the guy on the auction site who regularly takes down the listing and puts it back up.

I don't mean to be argumentative. It's that the original statement and the follow up seem to me to be in error based on what other members have reported.

I'm no authority on it tbh. It's not the method I'm using so I figured the sites that offer it were offering it to anyone.

I need to admit an error. I think the person who lied to get SN and was caught by her mother was in Canada.

I can't recall any UK members who have reported getting SN except for from the Polish seller on the auction site or from sources they've received via PMs, and maybe the crafts site but I'm not certain about that one.

I was looking for SN in the Brazilian version of MercadoLibre yesterday, and when I found, there was a message from a father, saying his daughter did ctb last week using SN bought from that vendor, and claiming to remove it. The seller sent his condonlences, said that he didn’t know it was possible to die using sn, but that he wouldn’t remove it because it is not illegal nor restricted in this country. But I think it may be restricted soon as this method get more known by people.

While I'm no authority nor expert on SN, I do agree with @doug sned on getting rid of the label to protect the supplier and source from being revealed or scrutinized by authorities or pro-lifers. Also, @autumnal is right about protecting others from unintentionally mistaking a container of SN for something else. Alternatively, I suppose one could dump out (or consume) the remaining SN and have just an empty bottle.

As for @cryptic__egg's statement on it not being banned for commercial use, it could be restricted and/or made scarce (meaning they could still obtain it but would then need to jump through more hoops and inconveniences) which is also not good for people who want to use said method in the coming future.

But if there’s an autopsy done then they will still know what substance killed me, so does it really matter?

New article calling for a ban on SN alongside a pic of L's product: https://sanctionedsuicide.com/attachments/10-1016_j-jemermed-2020-06-031-pdf.40224/

Please sticky this mods or keep it bumped regularly. Please, please, please remove the damn labeling from your SN container before you CTB. Burn that fucker into ashes, flush it down the toilet, or whatever. Don't make it easier for these pieces of shits to deprive us of the freedom to CTB.

I Understand in general the sentiment, and I know it helps give the feeling of having control. However, this isn’t going to do much of anything other than protect sellers from the absolute laziest of investigators. There are also downsides to doing this. Death from SN is unambiguous on autopsy. Trying to obfuscate cause of death can turn into a case of being too clever by half and can lead to unwanted suspicion for those left behind. If no clear note and no clear poison, then unwanted assumptions may be cast to those remaining that they poisoned you.

reconstructing where it came from is easy for investigators or likely family. Using SN for suicide is what will lead to restrictions on it, not keeping the label on the bottle. It has also been mentioned that leaving an unlabeled bottle of poison around is potentially dangerous. Either through restriction, as in some European countries, through lawsuits (what I think will kill it in the US), or simple bans in the online marketplaces, SN will continue to become harder to get. This is a function of what it is being used for, not because a label was left on the bottle.

I never said it's foolproof. Why on Earth would you make it easier for SN to become less and less available? Maybe in the grand scheme of things it'll eventually be restricted to the point where you'd have to pay hundreds to a chinese seller to obtain it in the future, but why accelerate the process? The longer we have reliable sources like L the more people can die with dignitity of their own choosing. Just because it might be an inevitable process does not mean you should accelerate it. Sure by all means leave a CTB note but the scenario you present is quite far-fetched. I seriously doubt that investigators will consider family member to have murdered you. It's not like they can't detect SN through a toxicology report after death.

yes, and if no note is left and no bottle found, then the assumption can then become the dead individual was poisoned by SN. I place a HUGE priority on not harming others, especially those I love. You don’t think unnatural deaths are investigated as potential homicides? They are. By definition, an unexplained death with no note must be investigated as such. A well planned suicide can be investigated as such, not to mention an unplanned one Why drag a loved one through that?

anyway, I don’t care if there is a crusade to remove the labels. It won’t make a difference in the long run. SN isn’t a secret; the bell has been rung. I do care about providing a counterpoint to advice that can have unintended consequences. The PPH spends a good bit of time discussing suicide notes for a reason. Leaving people exposed is a bad idea, as is leaving unlabeled bottles of poison around.

If this is such a concern to you then leave a damned note. It's that easy.

Your skin will turn blue, you know. A paramedic could probably determine that you died by methemoglobinemia just by looking at you.
