Having the rope on my lower neck is so uncomfortable. I can’t breathe and it hurts. It only works for me if it’s higher up.

That's why the recommended position is higher. How do you come to try lower ?

I couldn’t find the sweet spot at first so I just kept moving the rope up and down till I found it. Eventually found it under my jaw. Some people said higher on the neck worked best and some said lower.

I would say look for pictures of hanged people on the internet and use them as inspiration. But above all, look where they have the noose.

Theory is good, but you learn from practice

I’ve found my sweet spot and the only way I’m practicing at the moment is by wrapping something round my neck and just pulling it tight. I’m trying to get used to the feeling of passing out because although it does feel good, it’s also a little scary.

Still having this problem despite finding it before. Try to do it using a ligature instead of gripping your throat with your hand. I'm gonna have to go to the creek and test it sooner or later. If I recall, it takes about 3kg to compress the carotid, but it can vary between people.

the best thing, if possible, is to choose full suspension: it exerts enormous pressure on the neck and death is practically inevitable, unless someone saves you in time.
This is also what I’m going to se. What knot type are going to use? Hangman seems a good choice.

the best knot is this:

hangman knot is for drop hanging and it's used by executioners in death sentences, it may not work for full or partial suspension.

While the knot in the video is good I think the hangman is more reliable because it won’t loosen. Also since you body weight will be in your neck its enough for the rope to tighten. I tried it. @Lady black who is an advocate for full suspension also recommend it.

even the slip knot is very strong when done right and it won't loose. I have seen several videos of full suspension hangings and in most of them I have seen the slip knot, and it works great.

when my time comes, I will use the slip knot, I am a very small and thin person (1.65 x 50 kg), so the hangman knot is unnecessarily big and strong for me.

If using the slip knot, make two coils instead of just one. If you only have one, it might loosen with the weight of your body. I'm using the following diagram.

There's 2 knots aren't there? 1 to tie the scarf or whatever to whatever you're hanging from, and 1 to tie the scarf round your neck. Should they both be slip knots?

Yes, the one which goes around your neck is the slip knot, the one that is to be secured to your anchor point is a snuggle hitch. These are the ones I've seen recommended.

If you manage to pass out from partial should you be gone provided the ligature doesn't break? What if the knot loosens a little?

The dead weight of your body should ensure that the knot does not loosen. The main concern lies with the ligature breaking or being found early. Most ropes you can buy online can take many times your body weight. I'm using a double braided polyester 12mm rope that takes 2900KG.

What's a snuggle hitch? I looked it up in the animated knots link and couldn't find it. I couldn't find the hangman's knot or whatever it's called either.

There’s a wooden bar in my closet, but it’s lower than my height. Could it still be used if I bent my knees or something?

It can! Prisoners hang themselves from their bed posts. You need to have your technique down tho.

I have read up to the 22nd page of this thread but now that I have been accepted I can’t wait any longer to find peace. I have decided to use a 2 meter long iPhone charger as my rope. The only issue is I will be using a sliding door as my “bar” to hang from. I just wanted to know if this would be an issue when having convulsions and if it would result in me surviving or just not being completely dead.

To add the cable is tied very tight and has a secure end I do not see it loosening my only issue is the sliding door. I’ve considered my closet and shower bar and have found this to be the most secure. The other bend from me just pulling very hard so I do not want to use it.

When doing full suspension which do you recommend between doing it while the back of the body is touching a wall vs 360 degree free on air? @rundschlinge78 @shinkansen

Are you doing full or partial? I don’t know about partial but if its full then please don’t use charger as ligature. There is high chance that it might loosen or cut before you are dead. Even if this doesn’t happen it will be very painful for you before you loss consciousness since capable is thin. Why don’t you buy thick rope (10mm or above)? If you buy and use something as padding to make the passing as comfortable as possible.

My bed is on the ground and i only have one of those builder made white bar like shelves in my closet. I weight 127 pounds and want to do partial hanging so where can i go to hang the rope? I don’t want the white shelf to fall if it cant hold me so i am inclined to not use it but I don’t know what will hold mev

The issue I keep having with partial is getting a huge burst of adrenaline as it's happening and pulling myself up; survival instincts, basically. I'm almost positive I'm doing it correctly and could lose consciousness if I just held out a few seconds longer but I can't get myself there. Full suspension would be much more difficult for me to pull off. I may try doing a few shots before I try next time

I was going to partial but now after 3 days the voices in my head were able to stop for a while so I could think. And I don’t wanna die I just need to find some solace. Once I am out of my slump and walking downstairs doesn’t make me feel weak or give me a headache imma just go for walks far away from where I am. The voices will stop completely then.
