How does someone practice it? With your hands pulling on the rope (scarf for me)? How? And how do you get past the pressure build up in your head?

This is an older longer thread but it has some good info.
May be scavenger hunt like trying to find the answer to the blood pounding head symptom here though

id throw the rope over a door and hold the other end in my hand so when i start fainting i let go of it. if you attach it to something you might go sooner than planned so be careful with that

i just pull myself down letting the noose tighten around my neck if i go early no big deal but more than likely when i actually do it it will be a "practice". i come closest when my self-hatred is extremely deep.

If you get that pressure build up in your head then you are blocking the wrong vessel, to be exact: the jugular veins, which let blood flow from your head to your heart. Instead you wanna rather compress the carotid artery. But that takes a lot of training to block the carotid artery while (in the best case) not blocking jugular veins and your airway. But a lot of people have problems with that. Also it doesnt help that the jugular veins only needs like 2kg of force to block and the carotid artery needs like 5kg which means, if you dont position the rope/scarf/whatever not perfectly for your anatomy you are always above threshold of not blocking the wrong vessels (jugular veins).

If you really just want to practice and make sure you don't accidentally ctb I'd suggest asking a friend to be there with you....if you don't want to tell the friend about your ctb plans just say you want to try some autoerotic asphyxiation games !
