I had this thought today, what's gonna happen after I CBT. The other side is unknown, but I have a fair idea what I want if afterlife exists, that would be meeting my late grandparents and my last best friend.

I don't believe in heaven or hell but what if But I am afraid I will end on the wrong side. They weren't bad, I am a bad human.

What have been your thoughts?

my guess ys there ys nothyng after death. the same as u were before u were born, eternal nothyngness
Id like to imagine that too, makes things much easier in the head, and CBT doesn't feel that daunting

may l ask whats your reason for ctb?
5 years of multiple different reasons, harassment accusion, getting kicked out of uni 4 times, domestic violence, loss of touch with society, mental problems, disappointment. I have exhausted all energy to "try again with a fresh mindset"

I believe death is just like being asleep.
I do sometimes hope there is a heaven and hell though, so I can be reunited with the little people I love and so the scum who abused me and drove me to suicide pay for what they’ve done.
Sadly if heaven and hell do exist, I don’t trust god to be a good judge of who should go where- considering he gave me this shit life and continues to let me suffer.

are you sure these problems cant be beaten ?
I was sure it could be for 4 years now, things never picked up though, no matter how positive I stayed, worked my ass off, whenever I turned a new leaf, a new life shattering problem enters my life. Society itself rejects me to a point now, at least where I live.

I thought therepy will help, now even that has stopped affecting me.

At this point, I don't feel anything, I am exhausted, I exhausted every bit of effort in me.

Your reasoning is totally relatable..

Nothing really, I believe in heaven and hell though but it's different I see living on earth as hell if you're undesired or poor and weak, and paradise as death that puts you to sleep forever

Doing the math I think you're looking at a 50/50 chance of your consciousness living on in some sort of way or oblivion, like going under anesthesia. Either one is better than this. I don't believe in Heaven or Hell so I don't spare that a thought. I don't think they're actual places, they're states of mind. Only my 2 cents worth, of course.

Yes I do. I believe in heaven and hell. I know I'm a bad person but I know I'm saved. I know I'll see Jesus, my husband, grandparents and others who have passed. This gives me peace. I want to be home and at peace.

My opinion :
After death, you'll go to "heaven" (there is no hell), but it's not necessarily a 100% free ride.
You'll have a "life review", where you evaluate the life you just lived, to try to extract the lessons learned.
But for the most part it will be a good experience, and support will be given where needed from guides, etc.
Your new life in heaven may last quite a while, but if your soul hasn't reached it's full potential of enlightenment yet, then it's possible that you may eventually re-incarnate, but not until you've had a damned good rest, and are ready to "go at it" again....
But I wouldn't worry too much about the re-incarnation bit, for now you just can just think of it as you're going to heaven for a pretty long time....

As a Muslim, i believe in afterlife and judgment day, hell and heaven.
My beliefs is the only obstacle between me and ctb.
If there is a way to prove without any doubt that there is no afterlife and it's only nothingness i will go out immediately and drive to the highway and laydown in the middle of the road.
Fear of punishment is holding me back.

Couldn’t have said it better myself and I agree with all of it. Clearly, we are on the same page which makes me happy .I wish people knew this information and believe it like we do. Don’t get me wrong ,Im still afraid to cbt, bc I’m such a wimp but I’m one of those people who watch hours of near death experience video and have read some books about them to be fully convinced.

Pika, watch this video of a Harvard trained neurosurgeon who did not believe in an afterlife or god but ended getting brain meningitis (if i recall correctly) and had a near death experience. I picked a short video not to bore you but he went to the other side and describes it. There are many long videos if you care to see more and he’s written a great book about it. He’s only one of so many people who have these experiences, so yes I believe them.

The afterlife is 1 topic I've researched a ton about, don't want to get trapped here again in any form whatsoever. I don't expect the other side to be of love, light & rainbows.. If anything it will probably be a false light that tries to lure you in like a spider hunting her prey.

You know, it's actually extremely depressing realizing that there's no true peace even after leaving this body or escaping Earth. Because what goes on down here also probably affects the higher frequencies/realms. I only know few things with certainty, more than anything I seek full recall memory so I can actually feel complete & not feel so confused any longer. Eternal nothingness sounds beautiful in comparison to my suspicion of what awaits on the other side..

Seeing as we are soul or spiritual beings that can't be destroyed, then we can only be immobilized via amnesia & controlled in these cages of flesh.

i agree with the notion that they’re more states of mind than anything else. everyone has their own thoughts or view that brings them comfort, which i think is what it’s mainly about; putting your mind at ease.

Getting that peace is daunting, yet tempting.. hence I have been considering to try sooner than planned. I worry I'll back of, but as of right now, if I have every element in place, I'd try tonight.

I want to try again... And this time do it better. I just want someone to hold me safe and tight for a while while my sadness is being washed away.
I'd prefer it to be either heaven/hell or reincarnation, but then again deep down I feel like it's gonna be eternal nothingness.

yeah, for many i think the ‘peace’ is the main thing they’re after from completing ctb. on the other hand, religious folk see it as the thing that’s holding them back. but at the end of the day everyone has their own thoughts on it bc there isn’t any one thing or scenario guaranteed.

personally i like the idea of the greek gods of the underworld and that gives me comfort, but in actuality it’ll probably be just like going to sleep - nothing. so i understand both sides, but it’s still freaky to accept that you go from a valid person with working anatomy and a (for the most part but still questionable) functioning mind to nothing. oH WeLl! :pfff:

As my time approaches I think of the afterlife more and more. It scares me because I don't know what will happen to me and I don't like not knowing things. One half of me believes in reincarnation and the other half belives death is like a endless, dreamless sleep in the void. Either one is fine too me. Whatever does happen though I hope I will be allowed to see my grandmother. Everyday I miss her dearly.

Interesting topic OP!

Here's my opinion,
I'm a wiccan. I've practiced the pagan art for about 17 years and, along with my cousin and his wife, we run a coven that practices moon clad Wicca. It's a true love of mine, and I suggest the belief to anyone seeking love, acceptance, or comfort.

The afterlife we believe in is called Summerland. It's comparable to heaven in the sense that it's a place where the soul finds peace. No matter how you lived your life you will end up on the Summerland. The one thing Wicca revolves around is the rule of three, "Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give." That's from the rede, this is a tenet used by many wiccan/pagan faiths, "Thou hast obeyed the Law. But mark well, when thou receivest good, so equally art bound to return good threefold." This Is interpreted by many to mean no matter what energy you put out it will return to you three times, or basically you will be confronted with you're own actions as many times as needed for you to learn from it.

Another way to look at the respective rule of karmic belief is this. Sanchita (accumulated works), Kriyamana, Agami, or Vartamana (current works), and Prarabdha (fructifying works), which are associated with past, present and future respectively. This way we view the idea that our past behaviors will deeply impact our present and future. So be careful what you give out, it might just come back to bite you in the butt.

Back to the afterlife. As wiccan we believe in reincarnation. Not the typical reincarnation as discussed by Buddhists. More along the lines of spiritual balance and need. Many wiccan sects believe that a witch will only be reborn as another witch. Also many believe in no "resting" time for the soul, just immediate reincarnation. One thing widely accepted is the idea that what you carry on this life will be passed on to the next life. For instance, if your karmic bowl is full on this life, it will be so in the be so in the be life. So tread carefully today, because tomorrow you may be introduced to all your past transgressions. In the idea that we worship a goddess expressed by earthly love, we come to see that we were created from the womb of nature and therefore we return to that exact womb, only to be born again. When you're reborn you're not capable of starting over anew. You get to go back to the struggles you had in your past life, forcing you to reconcile your though process in future lives. One thing I believe, along with my coven, use the idea that when we die we fold into the magical void of peace where we will eventually reappear in this world. One thing I hold belief in is reincarnation. We are all beings made up of the earth (mother--gaia) and we will return to that earth only to fertilize the our mother and feed a new creation of hers where and when our soul/spirit is transferred to it. That's right, we may not come back as a troubled spirit, more likely a sad flower. So we will come back to this earth in any form seen fit at the transference of soul.

So yes, there is am afterlife. And to say the least, it's what you make of it.

I hope they will somehow help you. It helps me to know that I won't just cease to exist after this life. There's eternity in each of us. We just have to unwind through travel passion. Be who you feel you are. What's the reason behind suicide? To relieve pain.

I hope that'll do something for you. Let me know if you have quotations. Also the same goes out to anyone on this thread. So just message me, don't pm me, just message me please. I'll give you any information I have

I love you all. You're my true friends. Keep your heads up and reach for Th e stars.

I like the idea of reincarnation, coming back in a different life form. Be it an animal or another body. Eternal peace/rest also seems attractive. These are the two ideas that I’ve come to a conclusion about and it’s what I believe. Heaven and hell is nonsense to me.

I'm an atheist, so in essence I feel all the organized relegions are tools to control, manipulate and confine people to their norms . Also,I feel Hell/Heaven as physical states is a fear tactic employed by religious texts and utter illogical nonsense. However, I tend/ want to believe that we are multi dimensional beings who can transcend realities, I'd like to believe those NDE experiences of some people are real and that we are highly spiritual/vibrational souls in temporary body suits, i know i might be contradicting myself here and this whole thing can be a control program/belief system too, but somewhere deep inside i want it to be real so that it offers atleast some solace in this deep, twisted, nihilstic dual reality. We are human after all and we have emotions, it hurts a lot if it only means we are just byproducts of reproduction and nothing more just like our animal friends.

My perspective is life is eternal. There never was a beginning, never will there be an end. There is, as someone wrote here, a summerland...and we all return to it...but the spirit will sometimes take a detour right after leaving to "burn off karma" as they say....if one dies with a lot of fear or aggression, they will create a temporary "hell"...I think it's important to go out with a good attitude if one wants to avoid that experience, but that's just a personal belief. I've met many people who have had NDE's, near death experiences, and there's a ton of stuff on youtube if anyone is interested. A lady named Nancy Rynes is a great interview. She was hit by an SUV, left her body, etc, was an atheist and scientist before her nde. I love her story. Since there is no time when we leave the body, in other planes, her 5 hours in surgery to fix multiple injuries, she said it felt like 3 months over "there"...She was miserable to be back and to be told she had to come back. I look at suicide as sometimes, but not always, kind of like cutting out early from school lol. But I don't think that's always the case, I believe it is also written in one's soul trajectory. That we sign up for this experience also.
