A thought in response to the sometimes existing fear of being reincarnated as something in worse context/shape or specifically punished somehow because of suicide in this life:
whoever brought or encouraged the idea of karma (to be exact: the reward/punishment element of it) might have come from the same place as people who promoted the idea of hell. There is always someone interested in finding a button in this or that ideology that brings hope, and then in pushing that button. And feeling good.

On the topic:
I don't believe in god, but if it exists, I felt it once.
I had some months ago an experience of pure love, directed to no one in particular, just coming out of me. It was maybe a minute, it felt infinite. A minute of infinite good. In the middle of that, I heard a spark (a microsecond of sound, but which on a second time-dimension never stopped). If god exists, he is the sound of that spark. Whatever nasty ugly ass life I had before and I'll ever have, I will say it was worth it. That spark was the meaning of everything.

I was not on any substance. Just before that, I had had a moment of such sharp unsurmountable infinite pain, that it burned me. It cleaned something.

I do believe in God. I used to consider myself a Christian before the world and life beat me down. Now, I have my doubts and I don't really know what to believe. I know there is a God, but I don't think the rules of the afterlife are as black and white as the Bible and Christian make it out to be.

I don't consider myself religious anymore. I'm just a suicidal lesbian, who's probably going to "hell" by Christian standards. :/
I went to Christian school as a kid and I was always pretty sure if god existed he’d hate me so why worship him?

Also I’ll see you in the lesbian part of hell sister! Save me a seat.

I do, but it's never given me pause about suicide. I figure I could ask for forgiveness right before I ctb.

I'm a big proponent of the unintelligent design theory. Here's a great explanation:

@GeorgeJL ,

Do you also believe people's testimony about alien abductions, reincarnation, communicating with ghosts, etc?

People make shit up all the time. People collude, reinforcing one another. Sometimes it isn't consciously intended.

As for experiences when there is no brain activity, why not experiences before & after activity stops -- e.g. just like a dream which feels like hrs may actually take place in seconds.

Show me evidence of experiences had by people who died and remained dead. Hollywood is a powerful influence, and the trauma of NDEs will drive people to want to embellish.

Humans are so easy to brainwash , we are every day, you only have to look at "changing fashion" be it clothes , cars or home decor or even colour , we didnt decided flares where horrible the fashion industry made us think they where and all of a sudden we did want them and binned them for the latest designs we all of a sudden liked, how many times do you see them saying " this is this seasons must have colour "? etc and we follow unquestionably , we as a species are so gullible , easy to manipulate and willing to follow without question .

And people who fail to comply are punished, not by the system, but *by the other slaves*, with ridicule and social isolation.
Have you seen the monkey-reach-for-banana experiment?
Bunch of monkeys in a pen. Bananas suspended from ceiling, just out of reach. Every time a monkey tries to devise a way to reach the bananas, all of the monkeys get shocked.
Soon any monkey who looks like he's reaching for the bananas will immediately be beaten by the other monkeys, who don't want to get shocked.
No monkeys were shocked after the first generation.
Four generations later, any new monkey who is put into the cage and reaches for the bananas still gets the shit beaten out of it by all the other monkeys, who have never been shocked and have no idea why reaching for the bananas is bad.

Someone else will probably cite it more correctly than I did.

That’s interesting that only the first generation was shocked and the 4th generation behaved that way. Makes sense though. Learned behavior.

Nah, I found more references to it, I really told it wrong. It was cold water, not shocks. It was only after Five monkeys in the cage were replaced, not four more generations.
(although I would LOVE to see how that experiment would play out after four generations of captive breeding, but I predict it wouldn't change anything).

Each case needs to be looked at independently. I am sure your answer is a binary yes or no with most all being no. That is the easy way out. My answer would assign a level of probability to each case being true or false. With some cases having 0 probability of being true.

I admit people do make stuff up to get on TV, but I have experienced ghosts myself 3 times in the past. I don't believe any of the big foot stories so I don't believe based off of testimony alone. There are other factors at play that must be considered. I don't believe every alien abduction either, but no doubt there are some crazies out there.

You look at the world through a black and white lens, I look at it as a spectrum of colors. That is the way I see it. Why don't you get some DMT and see for yourself if there are other dimensions out there?

if God created the Earth and everything on it and then man in his own image it means he must have had a digestive system so what did he eat before he created it all ? did he have to poop ? Would it not have been better , seeing he was a fantastic biologist , that all life he created only needed water to live instead of spending all that time creating the complicate internal working of each creature only to have the next creature you create eat the last one ? and while we are at it who made him ?
If i was a publisher i wouldn't print this work of fiction , far too manly plot holes

I am really struggling with my belief in God, I pray daily but I dont know myself...If Christian God exist there is probably a hell and ppl there so I dont want that...But on the other hand eternal bliss is tempting...

I would want to believe in this "annihilation" concept or "empty hell" doctrine...but somehow cannot force myself to do it...just dont believe it...

I am still a Roman Catholic and there were many private revelations with ppl in hellfire like those from saint sister Faustina, and there are protestant ones too from Mary Baxter or Bill Wiese...and many others....

I know that a higher power exists in a spiritual sense and because of my upbringing I call it father. I do have to wonder if that higher power has abandoned me and my prayers are useless, not being heard. Maybe the higher power doesn’t care, or only cares about certain ones. If that’s so it wouldn’t mind when I die or how.

"If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, 'Let us go and worship other gods' (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people.

This sounds like something my social workers or Congressman would say...

I'd like to think so. If you got lots of trials going on in life then daily prayer is probably a good idea..

I wasn't motivated enough to watch the full 2 hours.
From what I could find, he claims to have worked on the "secret" S-4 facility, which if it really existed hold compromising knowledge about history up to 10 000 years ago claiming that aliens existed and intervened.
Besides the fact that important knowledge from so far ago would mean we wouldn't need as much as we do historian, why would it be in the US, and particularly in that place everyone knows and fantasize about?
But he also claims that he was in MIT and CalTech, but no records proves it soooo yeah liar.
From this point nothing he says can be trustworthy without solid proof, and should there be proof his sayings are irrelevant.

And US wouldn't let the opportunity of a antimatter (or antigravity depending on the source) reactor go to waste.
Also, super-heavy elements are extremely unstable so keeping a few hundreds pounds seems more than unlikely at that time, and maybe event today. It's half-life has expired by now either way.

The existence of a suicide forum is a pretty compelling argument for atheism, isn't it? If we're the result of intelligent design, that doesn't reflect well upon the designer. What drug was he on when he thought I was a good idea?
It's an argument for having a place for people in need when there is no other place to turn to. feels like modern church to me, honestly.
