i will honestly just copy paste what i wrote on the other thread (about vice) cause i want to be heard and that's it (sorry for being an attention whore :/)

those people failed to realize that SS merely provides you information that you actively have to seek out for on your own.

they'd rather have us attempting painful and unreliable methods than give us a clean peaceful death.

it's utterly horrible that I found a place that can provide me with such content, it would surely be better if jumped in front of train, got severely injured but not dead, and traumatized a bunch of people who got nothing to do with my problem.

to be honest, although i can understand why they are sad and all, it feels like the only reason those people target this forum is because they are incapable of recognizing the part they (and society) played in those ctbs. they can't deal with the guilt, the pain, and they feel the need to paint this community as the villain.

i got the impression that they make an effort on this article to sound impartial when it's clear where they stand on. and one more thing, what does the creators personal lives has to do with this site? i couldn't care less about what they do in their free time or what they believe in, that has nothing to do with the matter. they are just basically trying to invalidate the forum based on this and it's disgusting.

I'm worried in case this site disappears, it's sort of like a safety haven for me? I can't explain it.. but if it's taken down I'll feel more alone, because people here understand each other more.. I'm not good with my words but just.. ugh
I feel you.

I’ve been visiting/using SS for years, off & on, starting on Reddit, then eventually finding out about this site once it was banned from Reddit. I keep coming back because it feel safe & real- honest, without people telling you how you should be or how to fix yourself.

Fortunately I haven't lost a loved one to suicide (knock on wood), but I know for a fact the grief associated with losing any loved one to suicide, let alone one of your children, is insurmountable. Now this is totally just me speculating, but I bet the folks who are trying to shut this site down are looking for people to blame as a way to cope with their own grief. I don't blame them in the slightest.

However, as this thread proves to me, a lot of folks depend on this community and the open discussion it provides. And, say this site were to be shut down... It probably wouldn't take long for people to figure out some other place for us to go. I don't think shutting down this site would solve the problem at all--all it would do is make a whole community of sad people a lot sadder. :(

So ridiculous. It's not like SS is advertising itself to random people in ads or something like "Come here to kill yourself!" We all literally had to be searching for it to find it... It didn't cause anything.

Back when I found it, it was actually REALLY difficult to find. Stumbled upon it while looking for help to not ctb, ironically.

i just started crying because i’m so scared i’ll lose all of you if the site gets shut down.

is there a backup site? where else would we go?
Marquis said that they're in the words of making a discord-like thing for us. Not sure what it will be. But in the event this goes down, probably that if they have it available by then.

Until they could potentially make another site? Unsure otherwise.

The decision to take his life was made long before he found this website,
This website simply offers support for someone who's made that decision. Nobody here "encourages" anything.
If you ring Samaritans in the UK they are in no way allowed to tell you to "not do it". They have to support your decision and be with you til the end, even if it means staying on the line listening to you do it. They cannot tell you to stop.
This website is the same damn thing.
Ok the Samaritans cannot tell you HOW to do it, but with little research beyond this website you'll find answers very easily anyway. I would rather somebody succeed in their decision to end their life, rather than it be botched and the potential to end up disabled for the rest of their miserable lives. If they wanna go, they wanna go. No amount of therapy is going to stop their decision. I think the family should try to find some comfort in that he isn't in pain anymore and went peacefully.
We should all have the right to control our life/death.

Yeah, the family are on the fix the 26 website. I saw his pic there. Not sure how much longer we will have access to this site. I mean hopefully many more years...where else do we have the freedom to express ourselves?
These people do not have much support since this is a marginal issue. They are attacking CloudFlare and they cannot win this battle. Fixers have less than a hundred followers on Twitter, they are a non-entity.

That's more followers than I've got on Twitter.
I'm more of a non entity than fix, lol

"They" won't allow us to discuss this issue openly, like civilized adults...just talking about it puts you at legal risk. This site is at risk. Our society is hysterical about death and dying. If "They" are able to get this site taken down, I assume the forum (in some form) will move to the Dark Web.

If this site got shut down, it wouldn't remove the pain that makes life unlivable for myself or others here. It wouldn't fix the helplessness caused by neglect from the systems and people who are supposed to be helping us. It wouldn't fix mental health, poverty, homelessness, abuse, or anything else that brings us here. It wouldn't stop people from committing suicide, it would just remove a place for people who see it as their only option to express their feelings and feel understood.

These people don't care about that though. They don't want to try to understand, they just want something quick and easy to blame, instead of thinking about how they could have supported and listened to their loved ones more, or trying to actually make a difference to the systems and issues that brought them to the point of seeing death as the only way out.

Spot on, thank you.

wow wow wow
This one talks about paltalk, and some online insult community, whatever that is (in the mind of the journalist) but it's not about us (haven't been in paltalk in over 5 years, don't know what is going, so I can't comment)

blaming the suicide simply on this forum is like understimating/ rejecting the suffering their son was going through. it makes me angry and sad tht they re using his pic and name for their prolife propaganda. im sure this is not what their son wanted.parents have to learn to let go and respect / accept/ validate their sons suffering and so their choice. stop speculating on ur sons death !!

I can read between the lines and see the parents knowing on some level the role they played in their son's demise. Or see that how they are affected their son. Find something outside to blame so you don't have to look at the truth.

It's classic victimhood, with the parents playing the victims, and all that implies. I don't know this for a fact but just saying, to point the finger at a website and make it seem like people here are evil monsters waiting for vulnerable victims is so far fetched from the truth, something very strange must be going on in their minds.

I'm sorry they lost a son to suicide, but no one comes here by chance. They have to want to commit suicide, then seek out information on how to do it and then find this site. People only arrive here out of desperation and despair.

If these people put as much energy into campaigning against the shocking mental health services in the UK as they did baking a website, I’d have far more respect for them. Stop trying to lay blame at SS’s doorstep when the blame falls squarely on the lap of those who are supposed to be there to treat and support people in crisis. Not to mention the people caused the person who CTB’s trauma in the first place.

Very true. This site is rather buried/underground. It was well into my search for methods to ctb that I stumbled upon this site.

Do you genuinely want to try and prevent suicide? Then you must identify the reason(s) why someone was brought to the act of suicide in first place; stop treating each other like dirt - that would help as well too. On the other hand destroying a community such as this one will accomplish nothing.

Maybe i hope they do a backup or mirror site on the dark web?
I would be devastated if they shut this website down. I can't believe they are trying to shut ss down with lies.
Or maybe they can do some of the things the Pirate bay did . Governments etc. have been shutting down the pirate bay for 15 years but nothing can kill the pirate bay . It is invincible :

Why people don't wipe their phone to erase evidence of being on this site is beyond me. This site should require that. Unfucking believable. Should this site require tor and be hosted on the deep web?
Yes we do need a mirror of this site that can only be accessed via Tor

I don't really understand the whole 'spreading awareness' thing about sites like these. I mean, I literally found this site through that recent Vice article, even though they explicitly refused to name it. It was incredibly easy.

But yeah, I definitely agree that people are trying to place blame on others as a means to cope with the loss of their loved ones, though. Grief promotes ignorance, for whatever reason.

From what it sounds like from the article the adult male Joe made a decision to go to a hospital to help himself. The hospital did jack shit and he landed here with a majority of us experiencing the same thing. This sounds like the family covering their ass and being like "Oh shit we never were there for him we denied his emotions and every time he wanted to talk we changed the subject so we got to blame someone but ourselves." When in reality the government fucked up and has no idea how to really help any mental health during covid. Its sad that he died and left people behind but it just seems like a piss poor attempt for the family to act like they cared. Also the article is short as fuck I guess the family didn't know much about his mental state or just didn't give a fuck until he died.

I'm not suicidal now but when i was and i speak for my self at least i never felt encouraged by this site or any content on it. On the contrary the discussions about all the stuff related to suicide made me think about the descision deeply. At least i knew the methods that were in my head were stupid and will likely never work. I learned what damages could happen if i do it without a plan and survived. I should mention what a relief it was to connect with people who feel the same with you cause when you're in a very dark place you tend to think everyone around is happy and it makes you even more sad and alone.

There still pushing trying to get this site shut down this is from today

It's funny I'm also 23, and I've sought help, and many other forms of assistance. And no one took me seriously. Saying things like, you're fine, we all go through it, you're just crying for attention. I can stand in the middle of a room and yell, "I'm crying for help!" Or "I'm depressed" and they'll laugh at me. I found this place as a last resort. And enjoy it here, because I can talk safely and be listened to. This place doesn't make me anymore suicidal then I've been for the past 12yrs. My mind was set before I joined. And really I just lingered before joining.

Promoting and encouraging suicide is not what this site is about. Anyone who actually reads the forum would know this. It’s understandable that the families are looking for someone or something to blame. I’m just sad it has to be this site.
Exactly. Also, the information to end one’s life in a more humane manner (the goal of most info here) can be found in other places besides this site. What those places don’t have is the community that ironically keeps many members alive, even when-under their circumstances-it may truly be better not to be. This is the last place they should target.
100% agree. without this site and its support i would probably ctb quite quickly. it and its members ironically give me more mental help than any health services here have. without this site, i would be in a far worse mental state, and feel so fucking trapped. hence why in the recent days where all this attention has come from vice articles, twitter accounts etc, i've felt extremely worried and paranoid this place will be taken down.
I want these people to know that if they succeed in taking this site down, they also succeed in stripping myself, and many others, of our exhaustive posts, our precious words, connections, relief, our only respite from the restrained rhetoric around suicide and our suffering. They will be the murderers they accuse us of being. I want them to know what kind of panic and pain they instilled in those who are already drowning in the depths of despair. I want them to suffocate from the realization of their own hypocrisy. If they really felt so shook up about their child’s death, they would feel suicidal themselves and likely see the appeal of a place like this, many other bereaved parents already end up members here. To me, they must have some alternative agenda, other than the presented justice seeking for the deceased. Not every parent whose child commits suicide makes a show of it like these people do..there is something else more insidious at play here.

Honestly even if this site goes down, another will pop up in it's place. I was devastated at the end of ash/asm, but then I found this site. Information wants to be free, and it'll always find a way.

I just think we live in a crazy society, where the authorities are advocating pro life and intervening. However, in my case it is the authorities who have listened to my ex wife's false allegations and stopped from seeing my kids for 6 months and are trying to prosecute me for something I haven't even done. On the other hand they keep turning up at my house seeing if I'm "okay", because I've attempted ctb before. The system is so hypocritical and the samaritans have no idea. This site is exactly what I need as I have chose. I simply want to be free of this living hell. Thanks to all those who support me on here. Plus if family or friends are so amazing my question is it's odd that they only resurface after you ct to pass the blame me onto someone else.
